Miro Bannwart has introduced GrassLobster, an experimental project that bridges parametric geometry software Rhino and Grasshopper with external AI agents. The tool allows users to describe building forms, structures, or patterns to an agent, which then guides the user through dimensions, rules, and materials to build a connected Grasshopper model.

GrassLobster Connects Rhino and Grasshopper with AI Agents for Parametric Workflows
Instead of just executing CAD commands, GrassLobster focuses on maintaining the logic that generates geometry. The system organizes the model into "Geometry Stations," where each station runs specific code for a task. The agent can locate and modify the logic within these stations by interacting with project files that mirror the geometric process as text.
The project is designed to work with various compatible AI agents, such as OpenAI Codex or Claude Code, rather than relying on a single built-in model. In development trials, Bannwart reported successful geometric results using GPT-6 Astra, while other models like GPT-5.6 Sol showed weaker performance in geometry generation.
GrassLobster 0.1.0-alpha is currently available for Windows with Rhino 8 and requires .NET 8.
