Microsoft Announces Project Zenith for Developers, Featuring Devices Powered by AMD Chips

This project targets developer devices with 64GB or more of unified memory.

Devices equipped with Project Zenith can run models with over 30 billion parameters in a local environment without restrictions. The stated objective is to increase experimentation speed while reducing token consumption in the cloud.

At IFA, AMD announced a mini PC featuring the Ryzen AI Halo chip as the first Project Zenith device. Devices utilizing different silicon are expected to appear within the coming months.

These devices come pre-installed with development tools such as Visual Studio Code, GitHub Copilot, and PowerToys.

Regarding OS settings, file extension visibility and full path display in File Explorer are enabled by default. Conversely, elements that hinder development, such as the display of recently used files and folders and account notifications, have been disabled. The PowerToys Command Palette is also enabled by default.
