Playco is using GPT-6 Astra to build Playbot, an AI-driven IDE for professional game developers.

Playbot connects directly to engines such as Unity and Godot. This allows the AI model to perform scene editing, game playback, testing, and change verification within the tools used by developers.

The Playco team used GPT-6 Astra to create unthemed "gray box" prototypes from simple primitives.

From this common foundation, they are developing three themed game prototypes. Playco stated that GPT-6 Astra generated all three simultaneously.

Most prototypes worked on the first attempt. Lead Product Engineer Joao Vieira said that the initial prototypes were already robust, and changes were only required based on gameplay preferences.

Compared to previous models, manual fixes have decreased by 50%.

The use of GPT-6 Astra has shown improvements in spatial reasoning, reproduction of reference images, responsive UI within Unity, and game feel.

Playbot can have the model play the game and verify its own changes. Playco reported that Astra has become better at finding bugs and identifying areas for improving the player experience.
