Google Launches Fairwind Program: Cyber Defense Initiative for Governments and Enterprises

The program targets Google Cloud customers, government agencies, and cybersecurity partners, with the aim of assisting in the proactive resolution of cyber risks.

As a first step in the program, defenders can utilize advanced Gemini models. This enables the autonomous discovery and remediation of vulnerabilities, aiming to protect critical infrastructure, public services, and national security.

Regarding the specific technical configuration, a combination of "Gemini 3.8 Flash Cyber"—a model dedicated to cyber defense—and "CodeMender" will be provided. This allows for the discovery, verification, and remediation of vulnerabilities at an agent-scale.

CodeMender provides specialized reasoning for describing and verifying code fixes. Google stated that this can significantly reduce operational costs compared to traditional frontier models.

While manual vulnerability remediation can take several weeks, verified patches can be generated within minutes inside an organization's secure cloud environment.

Participating organizations in this program are required to adhere to strict operational standards. These include limiting access privileges to internal cybersecurity teams and implementing multi-factor authentication.

Google will provide prioritized access to Gemini 3.8 Flash Cyber for customers in this program. Meanwhile, the use of CodeMender via public models on the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform is available to all Google Cloud customers.
