Temporal announced on September 14, 2026, that it has raised $550 million in a Series E funding round, bringing its valuation to $12.55 billion. The round was co-led by Lightspeed, with participation from Wellington Management, Growth Equity at Goldman Sachs Alternatives, and Tiger Global. Other investors included T. Rowe Price and SV Angel, with returning support from a16z, Sequoia, and Index.
The company attributed the increased demand to the rise of AI agents that require long-running, reliable execution. As AI integrations move into core "plumbing" tasks like financial movements and complex workflows, Temporal's "Durable Execution" technology—which ensures state is preserved and work recovers automatically from failures—is seeing increased adoption.
Temporal reported significant growth metrics, including a year-over-year increase in annualized revenue run rate of over 200%. In August, the platform processed 1.9 trillion billable actions, a 350% increase from the previous year. The company currently serves over 4,300 paying customers, including OpenAI, NVIDIA, and JPMorgan Chase. OpenAI's use of the platform has reportedly grown 60-fold in less than a year.
The company plans to use the new capital to expand global operations, grow its workforce, and enhance the platform's core primitives, reliability, and security features.
