Anthropic Releases Self-Hosted Environment for Claude Code in Public Beta

With the self-hosted environment, repository checkouts, build artifacts, secrets, and files created or modified by sessions can be stored on the organization's own infrastructure. A key advantage is the ability to connect to internal services, databases, and registries without passing through the public internet.

However, this is not a mechanism for running the Claude models themselves on-premises. Prompts, responses, and tool execution results are sent to Anthropic for inference, and may include code read by Claude. Session logs are also saved so that they can be resumed from a different device.

Regarding runners, there are two methods: a fixed method that runs continuously and an on-demand method that starts and stops upon request. This feature is disabled by default and cannot be used by organizations utilizing Zero Data Retention.
