New VS Code Feature Enables Second Opinions from Alternative AI Agents

This feature is designed to provide developers with a second opinion during the development process.

In AI-agent-driven development, errors made during the initial planning phase can become problematic in later stages. Since instructing the same AI model to perform a self-review may lead to missed errors due to bias, this feature aims to increase review accuracy by utilizing a different AI model.

The name is derived from the practice where programmers organize their thoughts by explaining their code to a rubber duck toy.

To use this feature, enter the /rubber-duck command within a Copilot Agent Host session.

This functionality is a port to VS Code of a feature that was experimentally introduced to the GitHub Copilot CLI in April 2026.

Additionally, a series of updates including this release have added features such as editing capabilities within the Markdown preview screen and the ability to add comments in the integrated browser.
