At New York Climate Week, NVIDIA highlighted five companies that are integrating AI into clean energy projects to accelerate research and help build a low-carbon grid.
NVIDIA Highlights AI Applications in Clean Energy Projects
ThinkLabs AI uses the NVIDIA CUDA platform to create digital twins and agents that optimize grid integration. According to Josh Wong, founder and CEO of ThinkLabs, these tools provide probabilistic insights to improve grid reliability and affordability. Southern California Edison has already used ThinkLabs software to reduce grid interconnection application evaluation times from 30–45 days to just two minutes.
In the nuclear sector, Atomic Canyon uses NVIDIA-accelerated compute to provide knowledge management for reactor operators. Their platforms, Neutron and NIVA, convert regulatory guidance and operating data into an AI-powered knowledge layer to streamline operations.
To address rising electricity demand from AI, Redwood Materials is developing large-scale, off-grid power solutions using recycled electric vehicle batteries. These systems integrate an AI intelligence layer running on the NVIDIA Blackwell platform to adapt to the real-time energy needs of data centers.
NVIDIA Omniverse is also being used to advance advanced nuclear and fusion technologies. TerraPower utilizes the platform to create digital twin software that aims to reduce the timeline for siting and delivering Natrium reactors from years to months. Meanwhile, Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS) uses NVIDIA Omniverse libraries and OpenUSD to compress fusion energy experimentation from years into weeks for its SPARC tokamak demonstration machine.
