By utilizing proprietary AI algorithms and multiple sensor technologies, Digit 5 is capable of autonomous avoidance, stopping, and squatting, allowing it to continuously observe people and take appropriate measures. When combined with NVIDIA's IGX Thor and Halos for Robotics, it is said to be able to collaborate safely with humans in factories and warehouses. It also features a function to communicate its movement intentions to surrounding people using visual and auditory cues.
In terms of performance, the payload capacity has increased by 40% compared to Digit 4, enabling it to repeatedly lift heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds (approximately 22.7kg). Battery efficiency has also improved, allowing 90 minutes of operation with just 9 minutes of charging, enabling more than 20 hours of work in a 24-hour period. Additionally, it adopts an interchangeable design using ISO-standard couplings, allowing tools to be swapped according to the task.
In addition to the United States and Canada, Agility is looking toward expansion into the United Kingdom and the EU, and plans to proceed with regulatory compliance such as the CE mark.
