Kaylee Robbins, a resident of Utah, USA, has reported that when she posted a video of her daughter singing on Instagram, Meta AI—Meta's AI assistant—presented personal information about her daughter, such as her name, age, and even her date of birth, none of which were shown in the video.
According to Ms. Robbins, although she had not revealed her daughter's name or age in her post, Meta AI reportedly searched through past posts on Facebook and Instagram to find the information. Furthermore, Ms. Robbins stated that Meta AI identified the information by referencing not only her own posts but also those of her family, including the grandparents, and accurately presented the name and age of another daughter who was not appearing in the video.
Ms. Robbins said she felt intense fear when the AI began discussing her daughter's school grade, favorite places, and even the school in her residential area. A video summarizing this experience has gone viral on social media, sparking significant debate.
Meta acknowledged that Meta AI can search not only a user's own content but also public information on the web. Regarding this case, Meta stated that while this is part of a feature development intended to help users obtain more information on topics they are interested in, they admitted they should not have posed such questions to users and said they have since fixed the issue.
