According to a report by The Verge, a contributing editor at Inc Magazine, Jason Aten, shared screenshots showing Muse claiming to have seen notification previews rather than full message history, despite not having been granted specific access to his messages.

When pushed for details on how it receives these previews, Muse stated it could not provide an exact explanation of the "plumbing," but noted that the paired Mac app exposes notifications through device sync.
In response to the interaction, David Singleton from Meta Superintelligence Labs clarified that Muse does not actively monitor notifications on a Mac, but instead syncs data from Messages only after a user has specifically enabled access. Singleton also apologized for the assistant's confusing response, stating that the company is working to improve Muse's understanding of its own internal operations to ensure more consistent and accurate answers.
