Contents of Secret Memo Sent by Former OpenAI Chief Scientist Sutskever Before Altman's Ousting Revealed

During this period, the board was engaged in repeated discussions regarding the managerial suitability of Sam Altman and Greg Brockman. Sutskever reportedly grew increasingly distrustful of Altman, concerned that AI capabilities were approaching a stage where they would surpass human intelligence.

At the request of other directors, Sutskever compiled approximately 70 pages of materials, including Slack messages and personnel documents. It is said that images taken with a mobile phone were included to avoid detection on company devices.

The final memo was sent as a disappearing message. The materials contained allegations that Altman had misrepresented facts to management and the board and had deceived them regarding internal safety protocols. One memo reportedly featured a heading stating "Sam shows a consistent pattern of..." with "Lying" listed first.

At its inception, OpenAI aimed for a structure as a non-profit organization that prioritized human safety. However, at the time of Altman's dismissal, investors and executives, including those from Microsoft, could not hide their surprise. Satya Nadella of Microsoft also stated that he was only informed a few minutes before the dismissal occurred.
