Stripe Introduces Internal AI Platform "Kai", Achieving Improved Sales Performance and Reduced Administrative Work

Stripe, a leading payment platform, has introduced "Kai," an internal AI platform to support the work of its employees, including non-engineers. Since its launch in April 2026, many employees have begun using it in less than 2 weeks, and currently, 83% of employees are Weekly Active Users (WAU).

Kai is designed to assist with complex knowledge work, such as executing queries on data warehouses, conducting pre-sales account research, incident triage, modeling revenue scenarios, and preparing for compliance checks. According to the company, while coding agents (AI agents specialized in programming tasks) have transformed engineering work, non-engineering departments like sales and finance faced challenges where existing tools could not meet data security requirements or specific workflows, leading to the development of this platform.

In designing the platform, emphasis was placed on scaling expertise without centralization, ensuring flexibility by allowing agents to be integrated into tools users already use (such as Slack, web apps, and Chrome extensions), and applying guardrails like data isolation that differ from those used for code. The technical foundation utilizes LangChain's deepagents and runs on Kubernetes. Each session is executed in a secure sandbox environment and features state management capabilities capable of handling complex dialogues of up to 932 turns, where 1 conversations involve hundreds of tool calls.

As a result of the implementation, new hires in GTM (Go-To-Market: marketing, sales, and customer success) departments use Kai 2.7 times more frequently than usual. For sales representatives, compared to weeks when they do not use Kai, those who do use it see a doubling of sales activity, a 17% increase in deal opportunities, a 26% increase in revenue-generating opportunities, and a 39% improvement in closing rates. Stripe states that through Kai, 25,000 hours of annual administrative work has been shifted toward revenue-generating core tasks.
