Bloomberg reported on 2026-09-04 that DeepSeek plans to deploy at least 160,000 units of Huawei's next-generation AI accelerator, the "Ascend 950DT," at a data center it is constructing in Ulanqab, Inner Mongolia. These chips are expected to be used exclusively for inference purposes, while NVIDIA GPUs will likely continue to be used for model training.
DeepSeek is proceeding with plans to secure approximately 1GW of computing capacity in the city through a combination of self-construction and leasing, with parts of the facility expected to become operational between late 2027 and early 2028. Financially, the company raised approximately $7.4 billion in external funding in June, establishing a foundation for large-scale infrastructure investment. However, it has been reported that due to component supply constraints, Huawei's chip production may take more than a year to meet the planned delivery schedule.
