On September 11, OpenAI announced that it is temporarily suspending new subscriptions for its top-tier "ChatGPT Pro" plan, which costs $200 per month (approximately ¥30,000). According to Tibo of OpenAI, the decision was driven by demand for the new "Astra" model reaching unprecedented levels, resulting in an unprecedented scale of system load.
Prioritizing the maintenance of service experience and access for existing users, the company took the measure of halting new sign-ups for the Pro plan, which places the highest load on the system. Existing accounts already subscribed to the plan can continue to use it. Additionally, other plans and API services remain available for continued use.
OpenAI stated that it aims to resume accepting new sign-ups as soon as possible by expanding its infrastructure capacity.
