Codex CLI v0.156.0 introduces several major usability enhancements and functional upgrades. Key new features include:

New Terminal UI: An optional fullscreen UI accessible via /tui, which supports transcript searching, mouse selection, and right-click copying.
Voice Conversations: Voice mode is now enabled by default, featuring an F8 toggle, a /voice settings picker, and bundled audio runtimes for Linux and Windows.
Usage Analytics: A new /usage dashboard allows users to explore account usage, token totals, and plugin/skill activity.
Task Management: Users can now filter tasks by status and create worktree sessions from the agent command center, with worktree support enabled by default.
Customization and Rendering: Six new terminal themes have been added, and the CLI now supports direct rendering of Mermaid diagrams and displayed equations in responses.
Daemon Management: The local background server can be updated via /daemon or bypassed using the --no-daemon flag.
