The research highlights that enterprise SaaS applications serve as systems of record, workflow orchestrators, and data governance frameworks. Since AI agents require structured and governed data to operate, major vendors such as SAP, Workday, Salesforce, and Oracle are embedding AI capabilities, like Joule and Agentforce, directly into their existing suites to augment rather than bypass these systems.
Data from IDC shows that 32.8% of companies are willing to pay at least 10% more for AI agents embedded directly into their applications, while 18% are willing to pay a premium of 30% or more. Additionally, the share of enterprise application pricing tied to consumption or outcomes is projected to reach 63% over the next ten years, marking a shift away from traditional per-seat subscription models.
