Anthropic Announces Enterprise Frontier Safeguards, Enabling Log Storage in Customer Clouds

Anthropic has announced "Enterprise Frontier Safeguards" (EFS), a new mechanism for its corporate customers. The company plans to roll out the feature in phases starting this autumn, aiming for broad availability by the end of the season.

Since Fable 5, the company has implemented a 30-day data retention policy. Anthropic explained that this is necessary because correlation analysis across different times and accounts is required to detect sophisticated misuse. However, the company stated that this policy is not intended for training on corporate data.

EFS stores activity data for monitoring within the customer's own cloud account (such as Amazon S3, Azure Blob Storage, or Google Cloud Storage). The data is managed under encryption keys, access policies, and audit logs controlled by the customer.

An automated monitoring system analyzes traffic to detect signs of activities such as the development of offensive cyber capabilities or the theft of credentials. Detected flags are sent directly to the customer, and subsequent responses are handled by the customer's own team. This removes the need for manual review by Anthropic employees.

Customer-owned storage, customer-managed encryption keys, and fully automated reviews are each available as opt-in options. These settings do not affect model behavior or API pricing. There is no charge for EFS itself, although storage and related usage fees will be billed by the respective cloud providers.

Supported services include Claude Code, Claude Enterprise, Claude Platform, and Amazon Bedrock. Anthropic stated that similar controls will be available via AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure.
