On September 10 (local time), OpenAI announced that it would temporarily suspend new sign-ups for the "Pro (20x)" plan, the highest tier of ChatGPT. The announcement was made via a post on X by Thibaut Soucio, the company's Head of Product, stating that the purpose is to respond to the growing demand for the new "GPT-6 Astra" model released on the 3rd.

Soucio noted that the demand for Astra is of an unprecedented scale, stated that there is no impact on existing subscribers, and mentioned that efforts to rapidly expand capacity are underway. It has been reported that the plan is currently unavailable for purchase on the ChatGPT plan selection screen.

ChatGPT currently offers five plans: Free, "Go," "Plus," "Pro (5x)," and "Pro (20x)." Users of the Pro plan benefit from access to Astra's "Proinference" mode and increased usage limits.
