OpenAI has released the "Data agent" for ChatGPT Work, which enables the system to read and utilize corporate data. By connecting data sources to ChatGPT Work, this feature allows users to retrieve data answers, create interactive dashboards, and execute actions through natural language queries.

The Data agent supports connections to approved data sources such as Amazon Redshift, Datadog, Google BigQuery, and Snowflake, as well as file imports from Google Drive and SharePoint. It interprets data using context—such as business terms and metric definitions—obtained from trusted Sources including Databricks Genie Ontology and dbt. Furthermore, it supports operations in business applications such as Power BI and Tableau.

OpenAI stated that nearly all of its product teams and more than two-thirds of the employees in the Go-to-Market department are already utilizing this feature. The company also explained that in organizations participating in the alpha program, such as NTT DATA, an environment has been established where non-engineers in sales and corporate departments can create and update their own dashboards.
