NVIDIA Highlights Expanding AI Ecosystem and Infrastructure Investment in Egypt and Africa
In Egypt, Hassan Allam Utilities and investment firm A15 have agreed to develop a new data center representing an estimated $400 million investment. This follows licensing from Egypt's National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority for Hassan Allam Data Centers to operate facilities in the country. Additionally, NVIDIA's Deep Learning Institute has seen its learner base in Egypt grow more than tenfold within a single year.
Across Africa, the infrastructure landscape is changing rapidly with four AI factories already announced or online. A notable project includes a $1.2 billion initial investment for the Nexus AI factory near Casablanca, Morocco, in collaboration with local ministries. In South Africa, Cassava Technologies is expanding access to NVIDIA accelerated computing through an AI factory, with plans to deploy across Egypt, Kenya, Nigeria, and Morocco in an investment that could reach $720 million.
NVIDIA is also focusing on developer enablement, having trained over 85,000 developers in Africa to date. The company's NVIDIA Inception program includes diverse members, such as MeetKai in Egypt and South Africa's Lelapa AI, which is developing language models for African languages including isiZulu and Sesotho.
