Capsule has launched a platform that packages entire web applications—including the user interface, media assets, and local data—into a single, portable .capsule file. These applications function without cloud servers, accounts, or subscriptions, ensuring that all data remains stored locally on the user's device.
Capsule enables single-file web applications with bundled SQLite data
The service uses AI prompts to generate complete, self-contained containers consisting of an HTML UI, a schema, and a local SQLite database. Users can modify features, schemas, or themes on the fly using direct AI prompts or Model Context Protocol (MCP) coding tools.
Because the .capsule files are based on standard HTML and CSS, they are cross-platform by default and can be opened on macOS, Windows, and Linux without additional configuration. The application files can be shared via email or messaging services and function entirely offline. While currently supporting desktop platforms, the developer stated that native support for iOS and Android is planned for a future release.
