It has been reported that Amazon's advertising services are beginning a pilot run on ChatGPT in the United States through Amazon DSP (a platform for advertisers to purchase ad inventory). This service will be provided based on cost-per-click (CPC) or cost-per-thousand impressions (CPM). It is operated as a managed service where Amazon's team assists with campaign setup and optimization; ads will appear below ChatGPT's responses as text or image units labeled as "Sponsored."

According to OpenAI, the annualized revenue for ChatGPT Ads has reached $1 billion, and the company continues its global expansion. The service is currently deployed in over 40 countries, with expansion extending to India, Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa. It is said that the partnership with Amazon will enable more precise targeting by leveraging Amazon's data on shopping and streaming.

Furthermore, OpenAI explained that advertising on ChatGPT does not influence the content of the conversational responses and that advertisers do not have access to users' private conversations. Ad displays are targeted at users of the free version and the Go subscription.
