The two companies will integrate the Gemini Robotics AI foundation model into the new Atlas robot, aiming to enable a wide variety of industrial tasks via humanoids. Alberto Rodriguez, Director of Robot Behavior for Atlas at Boston Dynamics, said that they chose DeepMind as a partner capable of establishing new vision-language-action models for complex robots. Carolina Parada, Senior Director of Robotics at Google DeepMind, stated that the Gemini Robotics models were developed with the goal of "bringing AI into the physical world."
