According to a report by the New York Times dated September 10, OpenAI explained that it has made "significant progress" on another Millennium Prize Problem and is currently considering how to publish the results.

The Millennium Prize Problems are seven major mathematical challenges selected by the Clay Mathematics Institute in 2000, with a prize of $1 million awarded for the solution to each problem.

On September 8, OpenAI announced that its internal system had generated a proof for the "Navier–Stokes existence and smoothness problem," one of the Millennium Prize Problems. According to the company, the result is still undergoing verification by mathematicians and has not yet been confirmed as a formal solution.
