On September 10, 2026, OpenAI announced a new data agent for ChatGPT Work. This agent connects to approved corporate data sources, providing the ability to investigate changes in business metrics and create interactive dashboards that can be shared among employees.

The data agent can connect to data sources such as Amazon Redshift, Datadog, Google BigQuery, and Snowflake, and can also incorporate files and documents from Google Drive and SharePoint into its analysis. During analysis, context such as organization-specific business terminology, indicators, and custom calculations can be applied. Furthermore, because existing account permissions—including restrictions at the table, row, and column levels—are applied, it can be used while maintaining governance.

Users can instruct and refine analyses within a single conversation without needing to write queries or operate individual analysis tools. Analysis results can be converted into dashboards that team members can edit and share. The agent also supports suggesting next steps based on the analysis results, sharing results via Slack or email, and executing actions in connected tools.
