OpenAI is offering a new feature, "ChatGPT Work," to subscription users paying $20 or more per month. It is not available to Free users or $8/month Go users.

There are two types of Work: "Work Cloud," which is accessed via the cloud, and "Work Local," which accesses local files and programs on the desktop application. OpenAI recommends using the conventional "Chat" for answering questions and brainstorming, while suggesting "Work" for tasks requiring clear outcomes, such as analysis or workflow completion.

In Work Cloud, users can select different inference levels ranging from Light to Ultra for GPT-5.6 models such as Sol, Luna, and Terra. It is speculated that these models are equivalent to those provided via the OpenAI API.

A major technical feature is the extensive internet access from the code execution environment. Unlike the conventional Chat, Work allows for package installation, cloning GitHub repositories, and integration with external APIs. Additionally, through browser tools, it can launch Chrome instances to browse websites, fill out forms, and take screenshots.
