OpenAI has announced that it has begun providing "GPT-6 Astra," a next-generation model designed to support a wide variety of business tasks, through ChatGPT Work, Codex, and API. According to OpenAI, Astra demonstrates high performance in fields such as computer operation, browsing, software engineering, and cybersecurity.

A key feature of Astra is its ability to operate applications and execute tasks similarly to a human, even for applications that do not provide an API. OpenAI stated that this allows companies to leverage AI from day one without significantly altering existing workflows. Additionally, the design reduces the number of tokens required for task completion, improving cost efficiency per operation. API pricing starts at $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output tokens.

Regarding safety, OpenAI stated that Astra is the first model to reach the cybersecurity capability threshold within its "Preparedness Framework." In internal safety benchmarks, OpenAI reported that Astra reduced the probability of generating unintended outcomes—such as the leak of confidential information or data deletion—by 89% compared to GPT-5.6 Sol. Furthermore, new administrative functions are provided for enterprises to restrict the websites and desktop applications that the AI can access.
